Our Mission
The ALAS Vision (Opthalmology) Clinic is committed to increasing access to eye care for uninsured and underinsured individuals in the Augusta CSRA community. Through basic vision screenings, patient education, and strong partnerships, we aim to detect early signs of vision problems and connect patients with comprehensive follow-up care.
Who We Serve
The Vision (Ophthalmology) Clinic provides free eye and vision related care services to all ages. We serve adult and pediatric patients who are uninsured, underinsured, or face financial barriers to accessing eye care. All patients are seen at no cost during ALAS clinic hours, with referrals to our partners for additional services if needed.
Our Services
We provide vision care through a hybrid model combining in-clinic screenings and community-based follow-up:
Vision Screenings at ALAS Clinics (Centro Médico, 904 Merry Street):
Offered during Clínica Latina and Pediatric Clinic clinic operational hours!—Pediatric patients are screened using a Spot Vision Screener, donated by the Lions Club, which detects conditions like astigmatism, strabismus, and more.
—Adult patients receive standard visual acuity tests and are referred for further evaluation if needed.
Sight for Students Vouchers:
In partnership, with Prevent Blindness Georgia, children who qualify are eligible to receive a vouchers for a full optometry consultation and corrective lenses at no cost.Comprehensive Follow-Up Care (Walton Options, 948 Walton Way):
In partnership with Prevent Blindness Georgia, adult patients with abnormal screening results are referred for complete optometric evaluations, and if glasses are needed, qualify for free or low-cost corrective lenses. At Walton Options, our partners provide full eye exams using professional-grade optometry equipment (including slit lamps, phoropter, tonometer, and other dianostic tools) to check for eye health issues and determine the right prescription if glasses are needed.
