William H. Salazar, MD, FACP, FAACH


Dr. William Salazar es el presidente de ALAS y el director medical de Clínica Latina. El es un profesor de medicina y psiquiatría y comportamiento de salud en la Medical College of Georgia. Despúes de graduar de escuela de medicina en la National University of Colombia, el completió su residencia en medicina interna en University of Rochester School of Medicine. Despúes el completió un fellowship en New York University in medicina interna general con un enfasis en problemas psicosociales y educación adulta. El también está calificado en psiquiatría en New York University y fue un research fellow en la Veteran's Association (VA) Hospital en Manhattan.

El es un fellow de la American College of Physicians and the American Academy on Communication in Healthcare. Dr. Salazar ejerce medicina internal y psiquiatría con un enfasis en medicina interna general, la comunicación, la depresión y problemas de ansiedad, y disfunciones sexuales. 

Matthew T. Rivera-Bloodworth, JMS, BS, CPhT

Matt Rivera es un nativo de Georgia del sur y un graduante summa cum laude de Valdosta State University.

Having grown up in rural Georgia, Matt is well acquainted with the challenges faced by persons living underserved and rural communities, including migrant farm workers. The grandson of a second-generation Mexican immigrant, Matt is the first in his family to go to medical school. He is a third year medical student at the Medical College of Georgia and a former clinic coordinator for Clínica Latina. Matt is passionate for underserved populations, especially Hispanics, Women, and LGBTQ persons. Matt will incorporate these passions into his future career as he works for the National Health Service Corps, a program administered by the United States Department of Health and Human Services.

He is also a part-time seminary student at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific and aspirant to the priesthood in the Episcopal Church. Spirituality and health are important to Matt, and he encourages all his patients to maintain a lifestyle of physical, mental, spiritual, and social balance. Matt lives in Augusta with his newly-wed husband Caleb Rivera-Bloodworth, who also volunteers for ALAS as an interpreter and web designer.

Romell Cooks


Romell Cooks is an ALAS Board Member and fills the role of board Secretary. Romell is retired Federal government executive with expertise in managing a Federal Grant Program, transportation safety and community development. She is currently the President of Romell Consulting, providing services in the areas community, organizational and personal development. Romell is the AARP Lead Volunteer for Age-Friendly Augusta, a member of Asociación Cultural Hispanoamericana (ACHA) and a Richmond County School District Volunteer. Romell adds cultural diversity to the board and brings her “servants mentality” to ALAS’s work of improving the life of others.

Yelitza Maura, BA


Yelitza is an ALAS board member and serves as the ALAS Treasurer. She is a recent graduate of Augusta University, formerly known as Georgia Regents University. Her personality and motivation to help the community was what encouraged her to join the organization. As a member of the board, she helps coordinate many of the activities, fundraisers, contact volunteers and fosters the spirit of service to people in need, which is at the center of ALAS mission.

Eric J. Garber, Esq.


Eric J. Garber is an ALAS Board Member and an attorney representing members of the Augusta community primarily in the areas of family law and domestic relations.  Eric is the proprietor of Eric Garber Law, LLC and is Of Counsel for Hamil Little, P.C.  Eric is also a board member of the Friends of the Augusta Library and is a volunteer with Age-Friendly Augusta.  Eric brings his legal expertise and his dedication to the needs of parents and their children to the ALAS mission.

Liliana Noble


Liliana Noble is originally from Colombia. She work at Augusta University Medical Center as a medical interpreter. She is also a fitness instructor at the Wilson Family Y on Wheeler Road teaching spinning, yoga, Zumba, and other classes. She has been working as a board member for 4 years and enjoys helping in any way she can.

Caleb Rivera-Bloodworth, BA, MA


Caleb is the newest board member and the coordinator of interpretation services for ALAS. He also helps maintain the website. Caleb has a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Berry College in Rome, Georgia, and a Master of Arts in Hispanic Linguistics from the University of California, Davis. Caleb presently works for Apple, but he was previously teaching Spanish at the secondary and university level for four years. He also has many years of experience teaching English as a Second Language in community programs. He regularly interprets at the Clínica Latina, working alongside his husband, Matt, and Dr. Salazar. Caleb is passionate about linguistic and other human rights for the Hispanic community and for immigrants.
